2010 Geneva Automotive Car Show: Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept

The new concept carries a powerful 4.7-litre V8 engine, designed of course by Alfa Romeo and capable to deliver 450 hp. The new concept was designed as a compact sports car and measures 4620 mm in length, 1971 mm wide and 1230 mm high while the wheelbase measures 2850 mm. The new Pandion concept was designed by Mike Robinson and represents its first car since he took his role as Design and Brand Director at Bertone.

The name – Pandion – comes from the animal world, as Pandion Haliaetus is the scientific name for an Osprey: a sea hawk that nests and lives in coastal areas.

The new car is just a concept and will remain one, according to our sources, because the Italian manufacturer has no intentions to produce it.

The Pandion Concept as well as the Pininfarina 2uettottanta Concept were created in order to celebrate the centenary of Alfa Romeo, as a tribute to this iconic Italian marquee.

The partnership between Bertone and Alfa Romeo dates back to the early 1900s: it is one of the most fascinating partnerships in the history of car design due to its incisive draughtsmanship and formal elegance. These characteristics have been applied to 23 models, including one-offs and production cars constructed over the last 75 years.
